The single most addictive and fun game ever conceived. And you like PvP, this is the game for you. I've had the games, but new computer, new continent, had to get the games because the internet in Iraq is, well suspect.
What i've always really loved were the Dungeons and Dragons games. Buy this, you gotta get Lich King too. I've been playing games since pong (yes, i'm what most the kids who play this would call "old"), yelling to the "voice activated" atari consol, Nintendo, Playstation, XBox played em all.
Anyways, hours and hours ad infinum of fun. Where DnD jumped the shark, WOW has excelled. Finally, in the last two expansions, you don't have to get divorced to have nice gear.
Excellent graphics, interesting quests and dungeons (called instances in WOW). Old or young, you won't be dissappointed.
You will get to level 60 really quickly (at least 3 times as fast as normal). This battle chest is a must have if you use recruit a friend. Especially if you've either played this game or catch on to game fast. I recruited a friend of mine who didn't know anything about video games and never played before. After coaching her a bit she's ready to go to Outland three weeks later. Also a big benefit is that you can make a Blood Elf or Draenai if you please.
All I had to do was enter the two game codes (one for base game, and one for burning crusade) into my Battle.Net account, and I was set. I joined my friend in World of Warcraft by downloading the free recruit a friend trial from the website. I never even broke the seal on the disc to install from it; the free trial was the complete game, up to at least BC, and I suspect all the data for Wrath of the Lich King is already on my computer, but not unlocked yet, as I haven't purchased that expansion.I was also pleased that I didn't have to give Blizzard any credit card info to continue playing the game, I just told them I'd be using game cards, and did not put one in right away. I enjoyed my time spent with her, and since my characters are still fairly low level, I figured that the original game and the Burning Crusade expansion will keep me busy for a while. I wasn't really interested in the books that come with the battle chest box, as they are of course all out of date now, but it was a better deal than buying each box seperately, and so I picked this option.I was pleasantly surprised when the 30 days that come with the box were added on top of the remaining six days of my free trial, bringing me up till the end of January for my subscription. Having played EverQuest and other Sony Online Entertainment games, I was not used to this. In my experience, they wanted some kind of card right away.I'm coming to the end of my free days, and I do plan on getting a game time card to continue my subscription, as it's been fun playing this MMO with my friend, and I'm currently just about level 30, without really trying all that hard.
What you get addicted to is dopamine - a little pleasure hormone that is broadcast around your brain when you receive a reward. My sister doesnt speak with me anymore. They just make any effort to keep you there without any particular long-term purpose. At some point heroin was legal but eventually the law caught up with it.
The same happened to several my friends. At least the government should (and believe me will). The size of the world for example is optimized so that you can run for the longest time from one side to the other without getting pissed and leaving the game. The main goal of the creators of the game is that you spend the maximum amount of time playing it. I had a mistake once of giving my account to my nephew as a birthday gift.
This is worse than heroin for them, because soon you discover that you cannot leave this little series of puffs. An addiction develops. Our brains are not ready to handle this. The game itself is an infinite grind without a goal. This is to let your brain know that you did something good.
In wow you get rewarded little-by-little every time you kill a little or a big monster or play a player-versus-player game. This game is worse than heroin. I played this game since 2005. I quit a few months ago and had horrible headaches for a few weeks.
So if you are buying this "product" for someone its better be your enemy. In my opinion they should make this game illegal or put a tax on it like on tobacco or alcohol. wowdetox is a volunteer-run website dedicated to helping ppl with addiction to World of Warcraft.
The game is optimized to get you addicted. It contains 45k+ posts of addicts. In normal life you dont get rewarded so often because of real-life constraints.
So you get a little puff of dopamine every five minutes. put a warning on this game about its addictive nature. Read a few before you buy.
The item you use to torture (as stated in game), "inflicts incredible pain". At one point in Warcraft characters are asked to use a device on a prisoner until the prisoner releases a certain location. You are told it's OK for your character to torture as you are not bound by restrictions. The human character you torture pleads for the player to stop. Just something to think about.
